The Aces feat’ Barry Howard, Carl St Clair and new member Black Steel (Desmond Dekker & The Aces were the first Jamaican reggae artist to achieved a number 1 chart hit record in the UK and Europe “Israelites” 007 Shanty Town, Sing A Little Song, It Mek and many more hits, is to perform at the Ma’ad Club@The Excelsior by popular demand after a brief performance at the late Junior Mervin’s tribute back in February of this year.
Desmond Dekker & The Aces, singing lyrics in a Jamaican patois, helped make his 1969 song “Israelites” “ song, an ode to the troubles of the poor, sold millions of copies, became the first purely Jamaican song to top the charts in the United States, and opened the ears of the world to the music of the island,” wrote Los Angeles Times journalist Jocelyn Y. Stewart.
